DECEMBER 2008: Top 20 Myspace Discoveries 2008

In the spirit of Christmas (and more pertinently John Peel's Festive 50), I thought I'd share my favourite Myspace "discoveries" of 2008 with you. The following are all bands and/or artists making brilliant, individual music in quiet corners of this phenomenon we call Myspace. Until this year, all were unknown to me.
Musically (and literally), they span the globe, and often have very little in common with each other. But that's irrelevant. To me they all have something a bit special about them: a song, a sound, an idea, a spark of originality that has reaffirmed my belief that real musical pioneers and poets work deep underground, way off the beaten tracks pursued by our mainstream music press and radio. It's probably not how it should be, it's just how it is.
Anyway, here they are (in no particular order) for you to go and check out and discover for yourselves. Hopefully they'll excite, intrigue and delight you the way they did me.
